The Parish of Swinfen & Packington (a small area with no staff or halls to look after) served by 5 Councillors is seeking a permanent Clerk & R.F.O with effect from 1st April.
The successful applicant needs to be a good communicator, have organisational skills, be a confident user of office technology (word processing, the internet etc). Candidates should be willing to update their skills through training, which is funded by the Council, and be interested in obtaining the CILCA qualification (if not already held).
The position is home-based with flexible working hours and requires a small commitment of 3 hours per week with evening work for Council Meetings and other meetings when representing the Council. The post holder will be entitled to all statutory holidays and leave entitlement equivalent to 4 weeks.
The appointment will be made within salary scale LC2 (£22,221 to £25,472 pro rata) of the nationally agreed rates for Local Council Clerks, depending on relevant experience and qualifications. Expenses and allowance for the use of telephone is also payable.

NORTON CANES PARISH COUNCIL

Applications are invited for the post of Clerk to Norton Canes Parish Council. The post is part-time, at least 20 hours per week, to be worked flexibly, with most meetings of the Council taking place in the evening. The Council provides office accommodation and the office is open from 10 -2.30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 10.00 to 12.30 on Saturday. Full council meeting is 3rd Wednesday of the month, with other evening meetings when required.
The post-holder will be the Council's Legal and Responsible Financial Officer and, ideally, should have experience of accounts, minute-taking and correspondence. First class communication and interpersonal skills are required. A background in local government would be an advantage.
The conditions of employment and remuneration will be based on the National Association of Local Councils/Society of Local Council Clerks model contract. The salary will be scale point 26 - £11.45 per hour.
